Dear Dubai, congratulations! So you’ll be the hosting city for EXPO 2020.
Investors are breaking doors, they are going crazy! Moving grounds all over the region, sounds like an earthquake!
We all have more responsibilities now. Let’s focus on the employee now rather than talking about investors, money, numbers, etc.
It is time for leaders to define excellence for their organizations that help employees stay as healthy as possible, it keeps them productive. The second thing that helps attract and retain workers is a great working environment which really helps attract and keep the best of the best. The third rule is empowerment. Who is behind every organization’s success? It is us, the employees.
Employees do everything they can to succeed; if you treat people like they make a difference, then they will be committed to make a difference. Can you imagine the number of creative ideas that are generated on a monthly basis only? This is a great way to gain their loyalty and plan forward for the biggest year for Dubai: 2020.
Hence, providing a climate of excellence, a great working environment, and empowering employees to make decisions and push the envelope, the region will continue to attract and develop knowledgable workers, and therefore, the opportunity to have a good chance of continuing the success. Value your creative capital!!
To sum up, people are often asking me, “What will happen in the next seven years? All that I can say is that I am always learning, adapting and definitely looking forward to being part of EXPO 2020.
It’s the most wonderful time of the year again! With the holiday season in full swing, everyone seems caught up in the excitement of preparations for that oversized Christmas dinner, decorating the home and the tree, buying gifts, choosing the right outfit to wear at the NYE party and, of course, making resolutions that nobody will remember one week into 2014.
For me, this time of the year is my favorite not because we get presents, shop till we drop, eat till we’re stuffed, listen to cheesy carols and get holidays, but because friends and families get together and because people remember to be kind and forgiving. It is a time of celebration, for the young and the old, the rich and the poor, all over the world. We celebrate love, freedom, hope, friendship, understanding, innovation, humanity.
December is the month to reflect on personal and professional achievements from the year that is drawing to an end, show gratitude to people that have had a positive influence on us, embrace the hard learned lessons that life taught us this year and make a promise to be better and stronger for the year to come.
So let’s celebrate and rejoice, gift smiles and happiness to everyone around us and remember the good times!
Wednesday 27th November 2013 8.30pm will be a day and time in my life where I will always remember where I was and what I was doing when I found out Dubai won Expo 2020. It was that kind of moment that you could feel in your bones was going to go down in history and I was going to be able to say I was there, I was part of it! I think everyone in Dubai will most likely feels the same way about it as I did.
A day in time, which will result in 7 years of life changing innovation, technology, sustainability and opportunity that will have the power to change the world that we live in today and I for one cannot wait to see what Dubai will have in store for us!!
Below are a couple of reasons why the bid matters –
Expo 2020 will provide a unique platform for the global community to come together and explore creative and pioneering solutions to the three subthemes which have been identified as key drivers of global development: Sustainability, Mobility and Opportunity.
The total investment in the infrastructures related to Expo 2020 is estimated at Dh25 billion. Some of these facilities are permanent and will be utilised for other purposes after Expo 2020.
Dubai World Expo 2020 will generate around 277 thousand new job opportunities in Dubai over the next seven years. Each new job opportunity will sustain other 50 jobs in the region.
Expo 2020 will inject €28.8 billion (more than Dh140 billion) in Dubai’s GDP.
Expo 2020 will enhance Dubai’s trade and support its tourism development strategy targeting 20 million tourists and tripling tourism contribution in the emirate’s economy by 2020.
From the environmental aspects, the design of the exhibition centre is eco-friendly. Dubai Expo 2020 target to produce 50% of the Expo’s energy requirements on site.
So let’s get to it, let’s connect our minds, connect the world and let the new era begin!
